Old seating furniture can be found at every flea market and just because of their worn coverings, upholstery and hygienic concerns they often stay there. Modern mid- century designs became classical and are still very popular. This project was based on the thought to make these genuine pieces of furniture, which were rotting in basements, presentable again. The designed fabrics connect established designs with modern tastes. The aesthetic combination of colours and textures creates a chair for everyone. The collection of upholstery fabrics let old seating furniture shine in a new light. Inspired by the original textile cover of the lounge chair the colour palette includes opulent green and turquoise shades. Also the soft chenille texture of the new upholstery fabric was inspired by the original Velvet.

One of the designs was woven in cooperation with Backhausen (Hoheneich) and used for upholstering an original chair of the twentieth century. The other patterns were digitally printed on cotton with reactive dyes.

During the restoration process usage of tools, tricks and proper ways to work with materials are improved. This knowledge is summarised in a Do-It-Yourself leaflet. All tasks, results, obstacles and organisational steps are outlined in a project handbook (together with other team members).
